Guillotines v Mitre Saws

Post by absolute framing »

Hi,

Just enquiring if anyone has had experience of using both a Morso E-H Electro-Hydraulic guillotine and a Cassese CS 960 Double Mitre saw or similar.

If so, how did you find working with them, and would you recommend one over the other.

I'm planning on keeping my foot operated morso, but i'm pretty sure this is the time to source and get the best deal on upgrading my machinery.

Any advice would be much appreciated :!:

Saws are great if you cut a lot of wide moudlings. Especially ones with a scooped-in back. They are noisy and need a good dust extraction system. Two drawbacks with the model you mention: It weighs 700kg and costs about 6 grand. If you have a forklift and a big wallet, get one.

Hi,
I've used the hydraulic Morso, and two Brevetti's, i now use a foot operated Morso, and the brevetti Prisma Maxi... i gave up on the hydraulic Morso as it cost more than we thought was necessary. We had a lot of electrical problems with it, and every call out cost more and more money, more than it was worth in my humble opinion... I now use the primsa maxi and the great foot operated Morso.. The maxi is noisy and does require a good dust extraction system (also noisy), but, if you are cutting wider and larger mouldings it is heaven. We use a lot of large Ash and oak mouldings and would be lost without the maxi..

it is heavy, it is expensive, But, it is fantastic. We've had it for a year now and the only thing we've done extra to it is sharpen the saw blades.
