Gmail

I dont know if many of you use Googlemail (Gmail) - but if you do then try an add on that allows you to add text and pictures as a HTML signature. The add on is Better Gmail 2 (BG2). Based on Grease Monkey scripts it transforms some of gmails functions and in this version works really well.

If you have a number of email addresses you can access all of them through Gmail - with the advantage when using BG2 that you can write different scripts for each address - so if you are replying to a personal email you can have a signature for that - Sending out a email from your business - then you can have a signature that shows your logo address etc.

basic script that can be adapted to put logo and contact details: (shows gmail logo as sample)

<div style="border.1px dashed #888888;padding:lem;margin:1cm;width:300px">
<img src="https://mail.google.com/mail/help/images/logo1.gif" style= floatleft; margin-right:10px,"/><br>
<strong> your name <br>
Business name<br>
tel no </div>

cheers mark, nice tip.
we use gmail for personal mail and for most of the business email.
I always highly recommend it, even without the new feature.

A bonus is access to all the usual google stuff, forms, shared documents etc with a google login.

Now I believe you can get it without an invitation, just sign up. So if anyone wants to give it a go, there isn't a better time than today!

Better gmail decided to drop the signature script from the better gmail 2 add on. Fortunately the script can still be accessed and is available as a separate mozilla add on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7757 . Useful if you have a logo and you want to customise your email so that it looks a bit more commercial than the standard gmail offering.

If you wish, you can continue to use your email client, such as Outlook Express, to download your Gmail messages.
