Power Twist wedges

Post by WelshFramer »

Has anyone tried using PTC wedges (http://www.lionpic.co.uk/Catalog/Produc ... earch=4611) in a Cassese CS-88 or similar? Do they work any better than Cassese wedges?

Stick to using Cassese wedges in your Cs88, the Power Twist ones may be cheaper but are a poorer wedge.
All Cassese wedges in the plastic chutes are oiled and don't have any glue holding them together unlike the the Power Twist ones which have a strip of glue holding themn together.
I have also found that the Power Twist wedges tend to jam more often in the wedge distributor block.

In short you get what you pay for.

I've tried the Power-twist wedges in my Cassesse CS-79, but I can't say there was any advantage in doing so. I still prefer using the Cassesse wedges.

For most framing businesses, when you consider the small cost of wedges, any cost saving between one manufacturer and another is probably too small to be worth bothering about.

Thanks for the advice.

I'd only consider using them if they were better than the Cassese (cost of wedges is hardly a major issue) but clearly they're not.

So, I'll stick with Cassese wedges and be happy.
