Since I have been doing a lot of biscuiting lately buttering the mitres is slightly awkward. Getting the glue in the slots is tricky on a big frame. The result is usually glue all over the place except where you want it. OK you can get special bicuit slot applicators and I have one but I never use it as it is constantly bunged up. Then I had a brainwave. Easier to brush it on. Got plenty of old knackered brushes. How do I get the brush in the gluepot? Behind the pinner there are always 2-3 nearly-empty glue bottles. The ones that you can't squeeze the last 1/2" out of but you don't want to chuck in case you run out one night and the shops are all shut. So I grabbed one and cut it in half. Easy to dip the brush in now and easy to stipple it onto the joints.

Squeeze it out the bottle onto the mitre? Well that's the way I've been doing it for 25 years....

And when you have finished, just wrap over with handywrap and it won't set. In fact this is so much nicer than squeezing that I think I'll do all frame like this from now on. And you use less glue.

When we are getting to the end of a bottle we use a spare mug and leave the glue bottle upside down, with the cap on obviously.
Rather like the tomato sauce bottle at home. Much less wastage this way.
