phs Wastetech

Post by griff buch »

phsWastetech is part of a major conglomoration and I'm delighted to say that my account with this company has now terminated. I would recommend anyone who uses them to review their situation and read other blogs on the net regarding this company .
I have been using them to remove my waste for about 5 years and in that time their charges have increased from a monthly account in 2005 of about £35 to £178 in '09 for one 1000ltr bin emptied twice a month. There are additional charges for annual waste certificates and cardboard recycling and this year my total charges would have topped £2000. For recycling they charged £221 to provide 25 polythene bags for a years waste. Additional bags, which can be filled in a couple of days, have to be purchased.

Please note that to cancel your contract you need to give 3 months notice prior to the anniversary of the contract. I missed my date by one week and they insisted that I continued for one more year.

My new waste collector is providing me with 2 bins, one for card and one for the general waste, for 15% of the amount I was paying. Now where shall I go on holiday next year!!

ps If anyone wants some poly bags I have some left.

Slight frankenthread here but............ I think that practice of 'default' contract renewal is very shady. :x The companies to use it don't exactly break their necks to aquaint you of the this procedure. It may be legal, but decidedly iffy.
I got caught out last year with the lecky supplier which will reasult in me paying abot £1200 extra this year. At least they won't get me twice. :P
