Hi folks
When using a hessian covered slip do you put the glass on top or below it?
If the glass goes underneath surely the hessian can pick up all the dust and carp.
So is it: moulding. glass. slip. mount or moulding, slip, glass, mount.
just wondering as both look right

Whatever the job calls for.
If you are galzing an oil the liner makes a good spacer. Never had any carp bother. The fabric also makes a nice cushion for the glass.
Personally, I don't like to see a frame with a fabric liner with glass inside the liner. And definately not with a mount. To me, the liner does the same job as a mount.
But that's just my opinion.

I agree and tend to do the same as Peter but I also use it as a slip when close framing needlepoint as it is most useful to keep the glass away from the work, but if you do remember to seal the rebate with Frame Sealing Tape or the like.

Placing the glazing between the moulding and slip has the added advantage of keeping the fabric clean.

The former option has the mount with space above it and it could bow away from the artwork.silvercleave wrote:Hi
