Vice/clamps any recommendations?

Post by Keadyart »

Hello everyone, hope you are all enjoying the good weather,
I am looking for some pointers with vices / clamps.
I like to glue and clamp individual mitres, before inserting my wedges using the pushmaster tool.I want to buy a few more vices in order to speed up frame assembly-therefore I want your advice/recommendations regards which ones you have found the best(ie make model).

All the Best

Thanks John,
Its strange that I have the LION catalogue, but have never considered band clamps,as I thought clamping all four mitres at once would be a tricky job.But at that price it wouldn't hurt to try.
I have been using a single mitre vice, which was fine, but after dropping it,it seems not to be working so well.
Thanks Again
Brian

P.S. Everyone else must be using an underpinner

Hi Brian
Strangely enough, when we had a manual underpinner, there were some types of moulding that we had to 'band clamp' together before putting the wedges in - still with the band on to clarify.

I've been using 8 or 10 of these since 1985 and they are excellent. A huge amount of pressure can be applied.

Thanks Ormond,
Band clamps seem to be the way to go.
