Yep another first Robo, notice only one drumstick and ps is the moulding one of those that ends up as chippy crappy on the corners

Moulding ref is Simons 5410-7008 - a nice range in flat and cushioned profiles in brushed gold, bronze and silver with matching mount slips.

Cuts really well but the finish is quite fragile - have to lay a throw down when fitting.

how did you mount the stick

i have a 50cal shell i want to do at some point and was thinking how to do it

Look about one-third in from each end of the stick - two 3mm mylar straps that each pass through single 4mm slits under the stick. Then there's button thread in the groove on the right to prevent lateral movement.

The straps are cut from a sheet off a roll - I buy it from Preservation Equipment Ltd (PEL) it's extremely versatile stuff - encapsulation, overlays, shaped mounts for medals/coins - and stuff like this.... .... and much more.

A strap just smaller than the width of the open CD case was wrapped around it and through slits in the board just under it top and bottom, then the case was closed over that to conceal it completely and a narrow strap, which you can see, was passed over the closed case and through the same slits, just to prevent the case from opening.

The kid in the photo - also a drummer (in training) who's dad brought in the Deep Purple cymbal on another thread (which I'm just about psyched up to frame) came in to collect this today, he was immensely chuffed - I asked him who the frell Carmine Appice is - and he went on and on in a language I didn't understand - lots of 'like's and 'innits' and 'know wa' I meeeen bro'

I did catch the word 'Google' though

I had nothing to do with the making of that frame; I wasn't even there, MIke, my framer did it all - I was on an afternoon off.

I did take the order though and told Mike "Two mylar straps; use that groove"

When I saw the two straps I thought - Oh FFS he didn't use the groove.

When I asked him why he said that he had, but with button thread (a perfect colour match - you can't see it)

I asked why - I'd've used a strap in that groove, plus another roughly where the one on the left is.

He said that seeing as the straps can be seen it would look best if they were equi-distant from the sides of the photo above and central to the two below.

One central strap, plus the thread, would have been OK were it not for the fact that the strap would have interfered with the signature.

I was impressed.

Nice job. Really suits the artwork. I did see this guy in the late 70's at the Birmingham Odeon (or Hippodrome), can't remember. He was at that time the drummer in Rod Stewart's band. For what it's worth, he's a pretty mean musician.
