Certificates of Authenticity

Post by matrixmorso »

Hi all, just want to get a general idea about what different options i have regards COA on limited prints etc. do you put them in a cover and attach them to the backs of the frame or are they generally kept totally seperate incase the art was stolen. just curious on this one and a search didnt come back with a lot at all. thanks in advance for any replies

Hi,

I normally put them in a clear sleave attached to the back of the frame.

What Stephen said (but with 'sleeve' spelled corecktly!)

Keeps it together until customer collects and customer then has the option of sliding it out and putting it safe in a drawer or leaving it there.

Once talked someone into framing it to hang next to the framed print 8)

Hi
I was told by an Art Dealer/Valuer many years ago that the COA and the Art must NEVER be separated. So as Stephen says, place it in a plastic envelope and put it on the back of the work.

Here is an interesting link:

Hope it helps.

COA's

Post by dottad »

Hi,

Thought I would add my tuppence worth. I took the advice of an artist who says never to have the certificate placed with the artwork, but rather to keep it in a safe place.
This is what I do when issueing my own artwork. I also when making up the COA include a digital image of the artwork along with my signature ensuring that the work in question is as the drawing/digital image and title.

we seem to practice some of all of these as well, they are all good ways to keep COA's, so what ever you wanted to do would work fine

Framehouse - is English your first language because that sentence makes very little sense - or are you just trying to push your website?

It made sense to me - I think - but then I'm Welsh.

Maybe it would sound better without the words 'of all'?

Mark, ask Aivar for a translation. I couldn't work it out, and framehouse, change your signature, you naughty boy. Then welcome back.
