I'm thinking that business might be more difficult in the new year, so I'm planning some framing special offers.
This will mean a discount deal on a package with a limited choice of mouldings and mount colours, with package prices specified upto certain standard frame sizes. I was thinking of perhaps a dozen mouldings and perhaps half a dozen mount colours.
Has anyone else tried this? Any feedback or tips would be very welcome.

This is an on-going thing here, I don't specify prices though and nor do I advertise it anywhere, not even in the window, it's just something I do for cost conscious customers or to shift slow moving stock and/or stock that I have bought large quantities of at a stupid price. I've never openly offered a 'sale' of any sort on custom framing.
It's mostly mouldings only and the corner samples will all be together with yellow paper dots on.

I do a limited package deal on some prints I buy from a local artist.
If a customer buys a mounted print they get a special price for taking it as a framed package (from a limited range of mouldings).
The artist buys all his mounts from me and we do a deal on prints when he comes to pick up a batch of mounts so we are both happy with the deal and so is the customer.

we tried this in the past NYAF, but now moved back to doing what Roboframer does.

it works for some customers. we do both fixed price ranges, and a-la-carte detail by detail via estlite, depending on the customer.
It doesn't hurt to have a few example frames at example prices, and this is where your RMFs can be put to a double use = eg. "Custom made price for this 8x6 would be £22.73, ready made price is 9.95" or whatever.
If in doubt you can give the fixed price deal as a baseline and people can then add on "extras"
re your other post Mark: RMFs are selling pretty hot here at the moment, but mostly larger metric sizes and better mouldings, or small photo sizes and better mouldings. RMF sales up and down at different times of the year, as do the sizes that sell best at different times.
I have one member of staff now spends most of one full day a week on RMFs for the shop.
You can teel the RMF side is busy when you have to start using stock, rather than "offcuts"
