Hi all

Just thought I'd say a quick hello to intro myself. Thinking about starting up full time again. I had a reasonably successful high street frame shop once not so long ago (successful enough for the government to want a large chunk twice a year at any rate!) but sold up and have been stay at home dad bringing up my toddler while my better half brings in the 'spondoolics' . Going a bit stir crazy now though and looking around for a suitable premises in the local town to get back into it - am I mad?

Anyway hope to post lots and maybe meet a few like minded new friends - it can be lonely out there :)
Oh what fresh hell is this?!

Welcome to the forum Magnum.

The answer to that is yes definitely, but at least you have knowledge of the industry and obviously some business sense, which will stand you in good stead. Make sure you do you research , are you going to set up in the same area or have you moved?

Good Luck :-P :-P

Welcome - back?

I had 2 years doing the same as you looking after our first following the last recession circa 1990. She's at uni. now. Make the most of it. As for getting back into business I'd say yes go for it, if it didn't put you off the first time. If I was starting out again I wouldn't go the High Street route, rent, rates and all that but it depends what you want to do.

Good luck anyway.

Thanks for the welcome back. Luckily in Scotland we benefit from zero rates for premises up to (I think) £8500 RV so will stick below that - really makes a difference

Good advice sim.on - not sure we have enough markets round about here to make it viable for me though.
