mounting mixed media work

Hi, can anyone offer any advice on a job I have just taken on please? It is for an established artist client who works in mixed media on paper producing heavily distressed and 'worked' abstract pieces which she wants framing in a simple shallow box frame. Usually I simply supply the frames and backing board and she fixes the work in herself but this time she has requested that I do the complete job as she thinks she is not presenting the work properly in the frame i.e. she is simply gluing the finished artworks onto the mountboard backing resulting in a fairly unprofessional finish with obvious glue spots showing in certain lights and curled edges etc. I have suggested pre-mounting the works onto conservation foamcore leaving a overhang of around 10mm to hide the foamcore and so evening out the uneven-ness of the finished piece to some degree then centering the mounted piece onto the backboard before fixing into the frame. Does this sound like the best option? What would you suggest I use to fix the artwork securely to the foamcore to retain the level of conservation finish required?
Any help on this one greatly appreciated.

Here's a good 'how to' http://www.frametek.com/HTML/Articles/F ... nting.html I'd do a couple of things differently though, if you bevel the edges of the foam board you can have much less of an 'overhang' of paper, and those spacers are expensive; strips of foam board are fine and you can also bond mount board in the same colour as your backing mount board (or a contrast/whatever) to them.

Thanks Roboframer - very interesting article - just what I was looking for also take on board your additional points on beveling the edge of the foamcore etc. My clients edges are often very rough and distorted - all part of her work - so will need to get support as close to edge as possible without showing.
