Information about history of framing

In internet there is not many information about this subject. I'm interested in history of framing in 19 century. Can you advice me some active links on that articles?

There are several books on the subject and can be found readily on Amazon or other erstwhile websites.

Our frames here are all handmade usingthe same traditional methods and materials that have barely changed over the last few centuries.

Are you looking for information about general picture framing in the 19th Century? by that I mean the typical framing of photographs, paintings, watercolours for the public which has developed into what most framers deal with now. Or is it the actual history and development of the many different frame styles used to frame museum quality works of art?

For detailed info on 19 C picture frames you need to contact some frame gurus like William (Bill) Adair or Eli Wilner, both from the US. Google them up and get in touch with them. Both are very knowledgeable people and worldwide recognized authorities in their field. Comming to this forum is more like talking to expert people in today's framing techniques.
Not to be forgotten, Bill Adair is a dedicated educator and he writes articles and travel the world to give speaches on picture frames history. I perceive Eli Wilner like being less inclined to openly communicate and donate his time but I might very well be wrong there.
Go with Bill Adair first. His studio is named Gold Leaf Studio and it is located in Washington, DC. Here is a link to his web site. Tell Bill that Cornel pointed you to his direction. There may be other people equally expert in picture frame history, but I don't know them in person and can't speak intelligently about them.
