Air leaking from Underpinner

Post by fusionframer »

Hi all,

My Euro 9000 underpinner seems to have started leaking air from what sounds like (excuse my lack of technical terminology) the piston that drives the top clamp down. It is still working and I have pinned Ash mouldings today as well, but I can't afford for it to fail as I am flat out with Christmas orders.

When i press the foot pedal which pushes down the clamp, the leak seems to stop or certainly the leak reduces.

Any advice as to a possible solution or is this going to underpinner heaven?

Cheers

Is your underpinner one of these? http://www.ledsome.com/europiner.htm - they're all 9000-and-something I have the bench top one - 9009.

If you can hear a hiss it shouldn't be too difficult to find it by touch, and if you can't actually feel air on your fingers, the sound will be different if they pass over the fault. Hopefully it's at a hose connection and not in a casing and with push-on connections sometimes it might just take a push, or a pull, or altering the angle of the hose.

But if the hiss stops when you press the rebate clamp pedal, maybe there's a fault there, maybe a small amount of air is getting through when it shouldn't be, but the air is escaping at the machine end of the hose; not the pedal end.

Turn the radio off, make sure all the doors and windows are shut and give every single hose connection a push and a tug, starting with each end of the pedal hose connections.

Another way to pinpoint a leak - If you have a karaoke machine or can rig a microphone & speaker up .......... 8)

Yes, mine is the 9009 as well. I will play about with all the hoses today and hopefully that will sort out the problem.

Thanks for the advice Robo.
