White

Post by prospero »

There seems to be a fad for ornate white frames at the moment. Just done this one (at the customers request). They originally wanted a finer, more baroque moulding. Not a great selection of such available these days and it would have to be cheap. No good buying one with an expensive finish if you are going to scrape it all off. :? But after a bit of head-scratching I happened on a couple of lengths that I had got years ago. It's one of the few 'pasta' mouldings still available. Added a 3" shallow scoop and bingo. I was unsure of the final result, but all-in-all I think it turned out pretty cool. 8)

looks very good

A fine example of how something slightly understated enhances the painting no end.

Yes I like it. What paint did you use to finish the frames with?

It's done with artists' acrylic (Titanium White with a dash of Titanium Buff) over a few coats of white ripple paint as a primer. Takes quite a few coats to get an even finish in white. I polished it up a bit when it was completely dry.

I really like that, and I'm usually phobic about white frames.
