ICC PROFILES
I've just downloaded some icc profiles onto my mac,
and for the life of me can't figure out how to get them into the colorsync utility so i can use them.
I've tried colorsync help but to no avail, anybody got an idiots guide?

Re: ICC PROFILES
If you want the profiles to be available in photoshop: users/your username/library/ColorSync/profiles/yourprofile.icc
If you put them in the global ColorSync library on the hard disk then they won't be available when you log on as a user.
Hope this helps

Re: ICC PROFILES
yep I learned that just the other day. I have been using an old windows mouse up to now because I use excel for Mac and that has loads of right click stuff. I believe you have to programme the mouse first though

Re: ICC PROFILES
Well you learn something every day! I only have a G4 Mac which is more than 5 years old, which we run our scanner off (and not much else) - Have always found I can afford a much more powerful PC to run our rips and printers than I could with a Mac

Re: ICC PROFILES
Sorry to diverge, but while people are discussing ICC profiles does anyone know how to rename them? I'm running Windows 7 and using photoshop elements 10.
I've downloaded a load of Hahnemule profiles, unzipped them, renamed the file and then installed them only to find that Photoshop has stuck with the original impossible to remember name. Its driving me nuts.
Cheers.

Re: ICC PROFILES
you have to edit the profile, with a profile editor. there is a name field inside the profile
why do you need to reaname, Hahnemule use a system for names. once you get used to it its easy
but in saying that, if your running a fine art print service, its worth getting to the point where you create your own custom profiles for extra accuracy etc

Re: ICC PROFILES
I have a couple of Photospeed profiles and they say that they are the only ones able to rename them. As Steve says, they are self explanatory so best left alone in my opinion

Re: ICC PROFILES
The right click install only works on windows.
On a Mac you will need to drag the into Library/ColorSync/Profiles
