Re: All tastes catered for
I have always found it odd that the longer stop goes on the short side of the excalibur, effectively shortening it further.

It's a Nielsen exclusive "Fashion" - comes in a wider profile and in black & white too but I think it's discontinued now - red for sure, maybe the range.
I rarely use the stop on the short side, I bought an extra stop for the long side.

It was necessary for me because the glass wheel does not run on the same line as the blade - on the right stop the glass is accurate but the boards are about one mil short and it's vice-versa on the short side, so if I use both sides it's .............. confusing!
With two stops on the right you can't set both if the difference is less than 3" - but you can extend the furthest right hand stop with a piece of board etc.

Doesn't the difference depend how you set the scale up initially? My sacle is "out" by 1mm both sides and as it was purchased second hand I guess the previous framer stuck the scale on to account for that. I use both sides equally

Re: All tastes catered for
It's not the scale that's out, the blade runs on a different track to the glass wheel i.e. if I lightly score a board with the blade, turn the head and then score with the glass wheel, I'll get two lines about 1mm apart.

Re: All tastes catered for
Apologies for that John, I thought a bit more about it and realised what it was you were saying. Yes I agree that you would need only to work from the one side if 1mm is particularly important. Alzheimer's has set in I think

Re: All tastes catered for
I just had to decide what to set the scales to, glass or boards and decided glass because I have the option of cutting mount board on the CMC and when I don't I set the stops to 1mm plus of what I want, cut all the boards and then move the stops in and cut the glass.

Re: All tastes catered for
I've got both my stops on the right hand side (cut the long one down
) I find it easier as I tend to sq up my board, stick the board in on the right hand side, cut turn the board 90 degrees counter clock wise ( so new cut at bottom) cut again, turn counter clockwise , drop stops and cut to measurement, repeat for the last side, then I have spot on square board.

Returning to the "Tigger"
It works very well John. It makes you stop and look at it. Which is what art is about, isn't it?
Whether or not I like it is entirely another matter
