Finally got round to some research on the CMC front and my boss has it narrowed down between 2.
The Wizard 8000 from Framer's Corner or the Valiani Mat pro from DJ Simons
Has anyone had any issues with either machines, as far as i can see the valiani is slightly better.
Any thoughts???
Andy

Re: CMC - Valiani v Wizard
The timeless question.
They are both excellent, of all the posts on the forum I don't think there's been one that rubbishes either, it's just that people have their individual preferences which can sometimes get a bit noisy.
Like all things you've got to look at the package.
I've a Wizard - could I cope with another make - yes. Would I change - no, quite happy with the package. They're all throughbreds though.
I think one of the key aims should be to visit a framer with the machine and ask to see it put through it's paces.

Do not be afraid of strangers, for thereby many have entertained angels unawares.

Re: CMC - Valiani v Wizard
The new valiani software is good but.......
What really p***** me right off about it is the fact you have to pay extra to be able to effectively use the software on more than 1 machine, we have 6 pcs over 2 sites Ideally, I really want to be able to use the software where ever I want to or which ever member of staff needs to should be able to, all our computers are linked so files can be shared in seconds, unfortunately it is a extra £100 per save dongle, I paid for 1 extra but it isn't really good enough considering the IXV we have stands us at just over £20k.
One of the questions I asked each company when I went to view these machines was , can I use the software on more than 1 PC all said yes no problem.
There is a gripe for you!

Dispite this gripe If I was.to go back in time knowing what I know now, I wouldn't even consider any other cmc, the IXV is the best cutter for us by quite a way, the vacuum bed is invaluable to us for too many reasons to list.

Re: CMC - Valiani v Wizard
Its interesting that the introduction of new software is the only problem to have been mentioned when discussing these machines. Thats possibly because when looked after they are both incredibly tough productive machines. So the reality of choice probably comes down to how you like the human interface bit - inputting into the machine - designing customers wants quickly and easily.
Being a Valiani user I have used FMD for years - great software but showing its age. Vstudio is a massive leap forward for Valiani and like any software had its teething problems. I am certain that a new machine with Vstudio is going to be a breeze to get to know and use productively. As for upgrading to Vstudio - well its like many upgrades - it may need some technical support to make sure that converting data from one software to the next is completed seamlessly. Valiani - through Simons, do offer installation of this software and its probably money well spent to have an expert do the job. These are complicated machines with complicated software - you need to expect normal industry expectations of support - when out of warranty you pay for support.
I can say with all honesty that on the rare occasions I've asked for support it's been very good and gone well beyond what I expected. I installed the Vstudio upgrade a few months after its release and experienced a few data transfer issues - Nico helped me through those. As with all new softwares subsequent upgrades have solved the bugs that only show when these things go live - The wise probably dont rush to be first in line for new releases. Having settled in Vstudio I now love it - some great features that are real time - and material savers. Despite being technically savvy I would probably take the advice given next time I install a completely new cmc software - get an experienced technician to do it for me.
