That's a great way of showing the problem!
Don't have that machine but have had that problem - it's probably the return spring in more than one piece. Have you taken the hammer/spring assembly apart?

I had a similar problem last week with my Cassese CS88.
You need to follow the instructions in the manual on page 10. Here is a link to the online version in case you do not have one:
http://www.cassese.com/manuels/79/cs79manang.pdf
As a matter of interest were you using 10mm wedges at the time of the jam? I got the feeling it was a wedge problem when it happened to me.
Be careful when you tighten the little nut that engages with the hammer as it will break if you overtighten it. I did that once and now I keep a spare as well as a spare hammer which Cassese do supply with each new machine.

That sounds/looks like your firing pin is loose and not returning........there should he a small nut(plastic maybe) that goes through the small hole in the pin (thats a firing pin your using to push it back down) and holds it in place. if it is loose then a wedge will possibly be stuck behind it.......tighten the nut only hand tight once you have cleaned out behind it and made sure its still in good condition, or use your spare

Are you using genuine Cassese wedges?

Re: Help with Cassese CS 79 Underpinner
Old post but I have a similar problem.
Does anybody know where I can get a Cassese CS79 serviced in the Oldham/Manchester area? I have a jam which I cannot seem to clear. Followed the instructions in the manual on page 10 as described above. I bought my machine second hand (very good condition) and I do not seem to have a locking screw in front of the wedge distributor on the block. The wedge driver blade seems to be completely trapped between a wedge and is locked in the 'up' position (i.e. light on - removed battery). I have taken out the 3 allen screws out which are just in front of the locking screw which I thought would provide less pressure between the wedge and driver but has made no difference.
I have used Cassese Wedges and were 15mm at the time (into Ash moulding). It might be something I need someone to take a look at so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Not familiar with your problem as the video link no longer exists, but 15mm wedges into ash would be a challenge to say in the least. I use 7s wherever I can and 10s if I absolutely have to. I use a pneumatic.

Re: Help with Cassese CS 79 Underpinner
Thanks Dave. Should there be a minimum depth be for wedges for a given frame thickness? (I.e half way - 20mm frame...10mm wedge?). Showing my inexperience here. I used 15mm wedges for a 20mm deep frame thinking I hade plenty of clearance but will provide a sturdy hold.
