Dirty Glass

Post by Teresa »

The last two delivery's of glass Ive had from Wessex have had water spots and lines of something sticky all over them. I pay £3.50 + vat for papered flote and it normally needs little cleaning, but the last two lots Ive had to use a blade and lighter fuel to clean it taking three times longer than usual, apparently I'm the only one that has complained, has anyone else had a problem recently ?

Nope, and I get my glass from Wessex too. I might put up with it once but a second lot they could replace.

About 2 years ago now several containers of this dirty glass was imported, by a glass company that I shall not name (not Wessex), we ended up with a pallet of it, it was at that point we changed to KC glass for pallet loads, could this be some of the remnants of that bad batch?

Either that or some one left it outside far too long.

We had 50 delivered from wessex las Tuesday, no problems so far.

Does yours come from Oldham?

We changed to wessex after our previous supplier sent me 100 sheets with bubbles in just about every sheet. We rejected it and they replaced the lot. 6 moths later another batch arrived with the same problem, we rejected those as well and we were reimbursed the cost, we then switched to wessex and not had any problems in 3 years.

Never had a problem with sheet glass from Wessex.

Only criticism I do have is that cut-to-size specialist glass comes perfectly sized and nicely wrapped but is often covered in fingerprints. Would be good given the cost if the cutter wore gloves or gave the sheet a quick clean before wrapping.

We have had a dirty batch of standard 2mm float glass from Wessex, but a quick phone call to point it out meant that we haven't had any more like that. As Robo said, once was enough, we wouldn't accept a second batch like it.

Had a delivery last week no problems, in fact can't remember having one for a long time. Agree with the comment with finger prints on cut glass especially the expensive stuff, I've mentioned it in the past.

I have also had dirty glass from Wessex over the past 2-3 months. I appears as if something has been splattered over the glass. However it cleans off without too much trouble I find. It is not often that I have to resort to a blade to scrape off marks however.

Never had a problem with anything from Wessex (in Bournemouth, well Sway...) The glass, be it cut sheet packs or full sheets is always clean and well packaged.
In fact, I'm that impressed with the service I get from then, that I use them almost exclusively. To me, customer service and friendliness goes a long way...

I had a sheet of 'Artglass' from Wessex Leamington with a big scratch in the middle.
I emailed twice with no reply. I am hoping next time I go in I will get some sort of recompense.
They have always been good in the past.
