Shot In The Dark

Post by SquareFrames »

Hi Once Again Folks,

This is a shot in the dark. Does anyone out there know how to get the software working, loaded onto WinXP for a Fuji MX-1200 digital camera. I realise its 5 years old, (infact its, its birthday next Thursday, send cards to the address listed) but heres the thing, when I got this computer 3 years ago, it worked, when it crashed and WinXP Professional was loaded, it worked, when the hard drive broke down a few weeks ago and had to be replaced, it hasnt worked on the new drive. The camera still works and take great pics for me, but cannot do anything with them.
It wont even work on the computer I got the camera free with, what does that say? I have got the camera, 2 Fuji Installation discs, one for the old original computer one for this new..ish one, and ZIPP, NOWT.

I live in hope of all you technophobes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also have one of these, and never was able to connect it to the computer with its own cable (serial I think)

Forget that Steven, get yourself a USB card reader, they are down to just a few pounds now, simple and fast, and virtually foolproof.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the info, card reader is the way to go I think. The thing is, the camera was working on WINXP and on WINME, but since reformating the ME machine and the new hard drive being installed in the XP machine, it just doesnt want to work.

Swap card for training session, sounds good to me! Email me if that would suit you.

Hi Jonny,

Thanks for your wee visit today, after all the tooing and froing and bad language, turns out its a new smart card I need. Jessops in Lisburn do a 64MB one for slightly less than a tenner, so that'll do for now. Thanks for your assistance and help.

NOW the real work starts, to see what NEW one I can squeeze out of 'er indoors.

Talk soon,

Steven

Hi Stephen - just to say sorry i didnt get back in with the other things - will try over the weekend!!!!

One other thing if you are thinking about buying a new camera - think hard about it - dont forget that different cameras use different cards - my fuji s5000 uses xd picture cards - so it might be worth looking at the overall picture- new card for now - then in the future new camera - or new camera with up to date features and a lovely new card to go with it .
Just my thoughts

Check out these websites

www.dcmag.co.uk
www.7dayshop.com

BTW this info is just not strictly for stephen - anyone else like to add their comments feel free!!!!
He needs all the backing he can get to persuade the better half LOL!!!!!

One last thing - for stephen check out www.diyframing.com
This was the other website I was telling you about!!!!

Right back to more box frames

Hi Jonny,

SO, you noticed too? Did you know I am being extra special nice, trying to cut down on the smokes, making extra coffee (havent done the coffee in bed yet), but if needs be, I will. Shes the kind of woman, although nice and all that, thats when she shouts 'shite, we all jump on the shovel' (sorry folks, could not think of any other way of putting that), BUT I will win the day, after all I am only 43, lot of life left here yet!

Looked at that site, to be honest their course prices are a lot more expensive than mine, and are not as advanced as mine, too wishy washy, and not as detailed, but having said that, I made him an offer he could not refuse, I hope, he has aleady replied to my email, at 12:30am last night or incase I am corrected, 00:30am this morning. So we will see what happens when he telephones me this morning.

Well, its just after 7am, I am away to tidy up a bit, means to an end you know.

Talk soon, see you Saturday, thats SATURDAY, did you hear? And dont forget.....hahahahahahahaha

Hi Jonny,

Yep, checked it out, I really like the idea of KISS and not much fuss. Websites get far too complicated and we quickly loose interest, but once you have filled in the under construction pages, you wont and dont need anymore.

See you Saturday, hopefully, just tell Paula you got something better to do and your going on a learning curve, or bite the bullet, bring the poor lass with you.
