Uses for JM26

Post by pramsay13 »

I got a 2nd hand JM26 and I'm looking for things to do with it.
I've watched the DVD but I fell asleep half way through.

Making stuff and selling stuff is what I plan to do, although most of my work is reacting to customers' requests rather than speculating.
So I'm hoping to make up some examples of each and say this is a service I offer.

Is it still possible to get a starter pack(?) from Hotpress? If so who do we see now that Steve has gone over the dark side?

Who sells the acrylic and mdf blocks? Can mdf blocks be homemade although what about edging them and any other issues?

Is it worth making your own stickyboard rather than buying a sheet already sticky?

speculating seems to be what framers dont do well, they tend to react, so if you can speculate and make samples of the right things and be proactive marketing them you can do well

mdf block and acrylic blocks

simons sell both
lion sell the mdf ones

i have a joiner who makes them and edge bands them for me

stickyboard, well for me its worth it, i use about 80-100 sheets a month, but i have a 54" jetmounter so can make complete sheets, and also i control the quality then

most of the sticky boards you buy the adhesive is shite, if you make your own with hotpress products you get good quality

as for a contact, dont you buy from your local hotpress dealer?, you could even buy from steve still :-)

What does edge band mean? I have a friendly local joiner so I might go there for mdf blocks.
I'll need to have a word with my local hotpress distributor and see what they do.
Thanks for the help so far.
