compressor

Post by gilt »

Hello, we just bought a new oil free compressor but our air hose for blasting dust off glass and work seems to give off small droplets of oil, can we clean it reliably or is it better to buy a new one? Any experience with compressors?

Is this a new unused air hose, or has it previously been used with another compressor?

Wasn't sure how an oil-free compressor worked so I got this off t'net.
"Oil-free compressors are used in applications where entrained oil carry-over is not acceptable, such as medical research and semiconductor manufacturing. However, this does not preclude the need for filtration as hydrocarbons and other contaminants ingested from the ambient air must also be removed prior to the point-of-use. Subsequently, air treatment identical to that used for an oil-flooded screw compressor is frequently still required to ensure a given quality of compressed air."
Maybe it's something else that is dripping and will therefore need treated?

Has in got a reservoir tank or is is straight air delivery?

Most compressors have some sort of regulator with a water trap.

You need a condensation trap and even then if you really want dry air you will need a condenser as well.
