I reserve the right to give advice to anyone on framing no matter what trade they are in. I feel that it would give a very bad impression of our trade if people who need advice had prove involvement in the industry, not to mention the near impossibility of implementing such a restrictive measure.

what so when someone comes to visit your business, and says i dont want to give you any money but how do i do x y and z?

i have paid to learn what i know, and its not free to potential customers

lets face it making a frame isnt generally very difficult, but know how to handle situations is where knowledge come in no?

also i know in this industry of people giving bad advice, i know a framers recently told me about a highly respected framer giving very bad advice about a needle work. and it was ruin because of the advice

i think we should all offer advice but take care on what and how things are explained

I had assumed that we were talking in the context of this particular forum. If you want to keep all your hard paid for knowledge to yourself I can't really see the point in being a member.

did mention this forum.

i have learned and shared here often

but with respect to this forum. it does say framersforum on the title not framing advice forum

to me that implies a forum for framers not a forum for people to ask how to frame no?

I mate of mine had a garage just across the road. There used to be an old boy who would drop in more to pass the time than anything else. He was keen on cars 'n' stuff but not over-furnished in the brain dept. I went in one day and my mate said, "So-and-so is here again. He's been hanging about for ages waiting to see how I get this belt on". It was a belt that had to go round two other belts on the engine and the lad couldn't get his head round how it would go on. "I'm not putting it on while he's looking".......

stcstc.
My interpretation of the sub heading - "...and Framing Issues" is that it is a place where you talk about framing issues. However, I have my opinion, you have yours. I will give advice on framing issues where and to whom I wish. I trust that is clear. I am not entirely clear what your reference to bad advice given by a framer is supposed to indicate other than you have heard a story second hand.

Individual opinions don't really matter - it says under general discussion "everybody welcome". Everybody can also pick and choose what/who they do/do not respond to.
