Displaying Moulding Chevrons

Post by lansonframe »

Just about to start fitting out our new premises and was looking for advise in how to best display moulding chevrons.
Currently we have carpet tiles fitted to a wooden counter - using velcro strips.

However the new showroom is much larger and was thinking about using carpet on the walls to make a large display.
Was initially going to put some mdf on the walls and then carpet over them- but a carpet fitter has suggested fitting the carpet direct to the walls.
Would save time and pennies going this route - anybody have any advise/ideas?

Unless your walls are massive, I'd look at selwyns site. I have a secondhand unit which is like a large poster broowser. You can get hundreds of samples on it in a very small space. Looks tidier as well.

Carpeting the whole wall seems a bit like hard work and expense to me. Unless you are set on carpeted walls. :o

What I did was get thin wood strips - 25mm x 6mm. Screw to walls at increments commensurate with your chevs. Get a roll of Velcro loop. Stick to strips and bang in a staple here and there. All the samples will always be in dead vertical lines. And you can move the strips anytime.

where I used to work about 10 years ago, we spray carpet glue on the painted brick wall, and on the back of the carpet as well, still up as far as I know.

Another advantage of having the whole wall covered, you can have some little boiler suites made with Velcro on the back, then when parents bring their unruly kids in, give kids the boiler suites to put on and Stick them on the wall :giggle:

I got a sheet of 8 x 4 12mm MDF and stretched polyweave over it, stapled into the back. I have an uneven brick wall so needed a board over it. Cost me around £30 all in.

Hi
Have just done mine. Used white self adhesive electrical trunking with Velcro strip instead of wood. Sounds awful ...Looks smart... Shame I can't post pic as am on iPad. :D

Thanks to all for the ideas.
I will ditch the carpet idea and go for the wood option on the wall.
Bit more work but will save a bucket on carpet and fitting :D

That sounds like a huge project. Plenty of glue and maybe velcro for extra support. As long as you're sure you want it long term, it will wreck the walls when you take it off!
