I always always refill old cartridges. There are a lot of people who say it's not as high quality ink so it will run out faster, but even with this being the case I strongly believe that it is cheaper, and I have never personally had it do any harm.

Personally I would only use genuine cartridges.
Many moons ago we tried cheap replacement cartridges and apart from the question of their light-fastness, the colour gamut was definitely different.

It does depend on the quality of ink you are putting in there, some have a wider colour gamut than the epson inks and the same blue wool rating of 6.
Some inks are truly awful, and will produce carp.
I would recommend http://www.advancedinkjetsystems.com/index.php they are light fast and wider gamut than the epson (I have personally tested this) also much cheaper, custom profiles are a must though.
I have also tested Lyson inks which were not as good as the AIS.

I would like to thanks IFGL for putting me onto Inkjet systems. I went down there and purchased 7 replacement cartridges and they work a treat, also they are great people to deal with, I strongly recommend them.
