Ideas Re: Making a Wall Mounted Bubble Wrap Dispenser...

Post by philm »

Hi

Just wondering if anyone could share any ideas you might have re: what to use to make a cheapy wall mounted 'dispenser' for packing such as bubble wrap.

It would need to come quite a way off the wall to fit a full roll of bubble wrap in and be easy to change over to a new roll. I guess just some plastic piping from a plumbers merchant or broom handle to put the roll on and then some sort of bracket that comes out a fair distance from the wall.

I am pretty rubbish at making stuff like this so just wondering if anyone has any pictures perhaps of what you may have built or if anyone knows of any resource online to give me some ideas - I can't find a lot.

I guess it's pretty simple really but I could really do with some ideas :)

Thanks a lot!!

Get a stick of 1" dowelling. Two shelf brackets like this

and two bits of 3x2 timber.

Drill two 1" holes near the ends of the 3x2s. Though the 3" side.

Saw down from the top of one of the ends to extend the hole to the top like this U.

Nail two bits of plywood/mdf/whatever over the holes on opposite sides. This is to keep the dowel in place.

Fix the bits of wood to the brackets (or the other way round)

Fix brackets to wall.

Thread dowel though roll.

Drop the roll+dowel into the wood bits on the brackets.

Bingo.

All dimension should be calculated according to the roll.

Best I can do at 2am. :sleepy:

We don't use ours as a dispenser, as you would need a dedicated area for wrapping, but we do have storage for bubble wrap

Made out of some of the wood I had left over from the pallet my Valiani came on

We just take them down to wrap the frames on the workbench, then pop them back up when finished
