Filletmaster or FilletPro Measure & Cutter

Post by Uncle Sumo »

I am looking to buy equipment to measure and cut fillets. New things to offer customers and bring in work. If you had to choose, which one and why? Filltetmaster? Filletpro Measure & Cutter? In the near future, I`ll need to cut a couple of fillets upto 130cm long. After that I guess they wouldn`t be so long. Ideas? Ta.

Got a Morso? :P

Dedicated fillet cutters are nice bits of kit but you have to consider how often you would use them - given that they have no other use.

I've got a fillet master buried somewhere, tried it a couple of times, found it to be a complete faff. I just over cut on the morso by a few mms and trim down to suit, takes five minutes tops.

If I am doing a lot say 20 all different sizes then it would be nice to have one of those measures to measure it accurately. I have considered one as it can take way too long trimming and going back and trimming again especially if the morso is at the other end of the workshop. Just never got round to buying one.

Well, the Fillet Pro is £315 + VAT in the catalogue, and the Fillet Master is £175 all in from me as I import them form the US.
Both do the job, but with the Fillet Master you do need a Morso to work it.
It may not be for everyone but I'm totally sold on the Fillet Master for ease of use, speed and consistency. There again it's in my nature to have gizmo's ready at hand to make life easier for me. At £175 I think there well capable of paying for themselves in a short time - but you do have to use them - include them as often as you can in your designs and see what a good impression they present.
Do not be afraid of strangers, for thereby many have entertained angels unawares.

I use a Fillet Master and love it, well built and easy to use. I had a habit of trimming just a little bit too much when using the Morso alone and then having to start again. Yes it is quite an outlay for something used only now and then though.
