Starch paste

Post by The Common Framer »

Hi all

Been on here in the past but had to re-register as I can't recall user name or password

Having recently used gummed Japanese hinging tape with mixed results, I am keen to use Japanese paper with a starch paste for hinging in the future. This maybe a silly question but is the starch paste something that is purchased ready made or simply made up in the kitchen. If the latter... Does anyone have a "recipe" they can share. If it is the former.. Where can it be purchased? I see Lion have discontinued their offering.

Much obliged!

Wheat starch paste comes in a powder which is mixed with water, about 1 part powder to 4 or 5 water. I just do it in the microwave.

Search on PEL for 'Wheat'
