if its an art type paper you wont get a proper bond, you will get whats called silvering

the print has to be on a very very smooth paper
I use premium lustre photographic paper myself and have never tried anything else. I was warned not to use gloss and so I never have. So far so good. Have you used gloss ? If so, do you think that it is a better option?

actually a gloss is best

lustre can show the silvering, its got a texture

i have had the best results with a ultra smooth film, its an inkjet printable, but its a plastic paper instead of a coated paper

I would say the the paper my print is on is semi-gloss, but it's a metallic silver paper which brings out metallic colours in the photograph. I've no idea what the paper's called, but with the right image, it's incredibly effective.

Hello, all:

I've just found a mo to browse the Forum. This challenge is rather interesting. If the face of the image has to be mounted to the back of clear acrylic, it needs to be done with much care (and a bit if luck). Then you'll need to think about hanging it. If it's to be framed, then no probs. If it's to hang as a flat panel, then you'll need some kind of structure bonded to the back - check out our Sub-Frame system introduced in the latest Fine Print catalogue.

If it has to be surface mounted, then Di-Bond composite material is suitable. You'll then have to consider over-laminating the surface for protection. My guess is that if you look up sign and display contractors in Cambridge, you'll find someone to do it locally - but perhaps not to quite the same excellent standard as Kay Mounting.

BUT - discuss with your customer exactly what he wants, because whatever you do, it won't be cheap.
