Ive just stretched and framed this for an Australian lady. My wife likes it.....

Very emusing.

We have just finished framing two multi media textiles and they are on the bench. Currently lacing a third ready for framing. More work sitting on the other bench out of shot including a box frame to contain a babygro and photos. Keeps us busy.

Well since Wednesday this week it's my New Valiani Supreme-i 150, it's so big it's the only place it will fit! took four of us to lift it. Just like to thanks all at Simons for their help and to Mark Griffiths for a great install, nothing too much trouble for Mark. My production rate will increase now with the interchangeable heads, a lot faster than with my old fixed head MatPro

Just think how fast you could go with a twin headed machine no changing heads.

I can now reveal one of the jobs that was on my bench now that its left the premises this is one of 18 paintings & sketches I had to reframe with museum glass including 3 Turners they reckoned about £300.000 altogether, i have never worried & fretted so much in my life they were brought in 3 at a time & taken away the same day, this one pictured was the most expensive estimated in 2004 at £100,000 by Christies. I sweated a lot over this job but it was well worth the look on their faces when they saw the finished work, i would have loved to photograph the finished work but was asked not to.

Sounds like an interesting project. Sadly I can't open the attached photo or read the labels. I understand you have agreed not to post photos but what sort of frame did you put around the Turners?

I recently framed a letter written by John Ruskin and know that feeling of relief when the finished frame finally leaves your workshop. Isn’t it great being a framer and not knowing what gem might come through your door next!

Would be interested to know about some of the techniques you’ve used, if you’re willing to share, as I’m very much still on my conservation learning curve (and hope never to get of it) and enjoy hearing how other framers tackle jobs.

Did you arrange to extend your insurance to cover these images?

I had them brought in 3 at a time so my existing insurance covered most of those, but i had a premium to pay against accidental damage to the last one which was only on the premises for only 4hrs while the owners waited. however there was a massive excess on that to keep the premium down, Hey live dangerously
