CUTTING DEEP REBATE MOULDINGS

Post by grahamdown »

Can anyone suggest (short of paying Lion's over £300) how to cut deep rebate mouldings please?

I have a request to produce a series of frames with 50-60mm deep rebates and the Morso rebate supports only go up to 40mm.

Regards,

G

I cut two bits of square timber and tack them on to the supports with double-stick tape.

Simples.

Thanks for both responses. Yes it is a flat moulding so thanks for that idea and also for future reference i will bevel some square sections of timber.

It doesn't actually affect me because I would use the chop saw for these, but don't morso do deep rebate supports?

In my experience, cutting upside down works best but can take a tiny chink out of the bottom of the moulding (now the top) so does not always work if blades are a little blunt.

After years of cutting upside down, I finally bit the bullet and bought the Cassese saw
