Our waste collection company decided to add an extra £9 per month to our invoice for duty of care admin and documentation. They've tried doing this before and tried to get us to sign and return an agreement allowing them to do this. Did I sign it? Nope!
So this time, when I objected they wanted me to write a letter asking them to remove this charge and they would drop it. Having had the week-end to think about it, I phoned them and told them. I wasn't going to write a letter, because I thought it was a cheek to expect me to do anything, when they should be sorting it out. They are sending me a credit note, but no appology!
Each year this company increases their prices and blames it on the Govenment's Land Fill tax. So after discussing this with other retailers I got a quote elsewhere for under half the cost. I have discovered this company is now very expensive, whereas they were quiite reasonably priced when I started using them. I will be changing to another company, as soon as possible.
It may be worth fellow forum members getting quotes elsewhere once a year before the aniversary of your contract with enough time left to change if you don't like what you find out. Our new provider will save us £300 next year.
Well worth checking it out!

our waste company changed hands recently - someone else took over the contract- we are very disappointed now, having had them miss one collection to many (with bank holiday last monday being their "excuse" for not collecting on the following thursday)
Fortunatley there is competion, when we get out of the contract, and its not really the issue of cost saving, its reliability, specially as we seem some weeks to generate a lot of waste that we have nowhere to store except outside the shop on the street awaiting collection. Following which some individual (a competitor, as usual) reports the fact that we have bags piled on top of our bin outside, and we get a visit from a jobsworth.
my contention being that they are contracted to remove it on thursday, and if they dont remove it, then its their problem (and their rubbish) not ours. Of course Jobsworth does not agree with this view......
