Excalibur / protective sheet / con clear.

Post by Trinity »

With an Excalibur, when cutting Conservation Clear and cutting from the "right" side.....

And when you're using a sheet of mountboard to prevent scratching, do you take it right up to the metal snap off line, or do you keep it back from there and do the actual snap as usual. please.

I've not used a protective layer to date and lo and behold I've a scratch tonight.

I put a 2 ft wide sheet of mount board behind the cutting bar and because that increases the pressure of the wheel slightly I use it for all glass, not just CC and have reduced the wheel pressure slightly.

if you check the aluminium strip at the bottom of the base of your machine (just above the steel insert in the bottom of the glass channel), you have probably caught it with a piece of glass, rub the offending bit off and no more scratches .
This check is part of our routine Monday morning machinery maintenance.

Managed well with shield. I also got round to fitting a new glass wheel to the Excalibur - dear little beasties but what a difference.
I also managed to cut 10mm oversize and them trimmed it down with pliers - clean break albeit it two lengths.
Good confidence builder, I'd encourage anyone now to change the wheel.
