To celebrate the role of the Merlin HC3 helicopter in Afghanistan the operating squadrons 28 Sqn and 78 Sqn commissioned a painting. I have framed a number of these but I thought I would ask your opinions on my variation on a theme.

If I were going to niggle, I would say the one with the picture on it's own could have used a wider mount border.

Accepting to comment from Prospero re mount size, I think the one on its own looks the best. I would prefer the badges etc in a frame on their own to hang nearby. I think too many framed items look too busy these days, especially with CMC's.

Less is more for me.

I am not keen on any, I think the frame on the first 3 takes your eye off the picture, and the colour clashes with the mount choice, which dose not throw out the image and is too small, I think you have left too much white paper around the image it is glaring at me.

The 4th choice is worse than the first 3 with badly clashing colours.

My intention is not to offend, just being honest.

I have to say that, not for the first time, I prefer IFGL's effort. Mind you, I never have been a fan of dark brown frames with a gse. IFGL's choice of mount and frame is more modern/understated, and compliments the colours in the picture. But then I guess it is somewhat down to personal preference as well, and lots of people still like the more traditional dark brown frames, especially service personnel.
