Laminating

After reading some posts about float mounting most say to laminate the picture to a bit of mount board or foam board but what adhesive do you recommend for this.

I'm not sure what this has to do with float mounting, but anyway:
There is hot mounting in a press (hot press for example) which uses heat and pressure activated adhesive, followed by laminating (I.e. Over laying with a coating) which again is heat and pressure activated. A hot press uses vacuum and heated glass, an ademco uses clamping pressure and a heated steel plate.
These is cold mounting between rollers (jet mounter for example) which use pressure only activated adhesive and laminating film.

I'm sure you don't mean laminating, which is to cover something with a transparent adhesive film, not fixing to a surface, which is what you probably mean.
If it's something on paper it could be mounted with pass-through hinges or possibly encapsulated.
