Mounting children's shoes

I have a number of sets of children's (as opposed to softer baby's) shoes in for framing.

I'd like to mount them on the surface rather than in a sink mount and as ever would prefer not to damage them by tags or sewing. I thought of Melinex straps but because of the shape of the shoes they are a bit obvious. Will Sellotape 'sticky fixings' work?

If there are lace holes or buckles and straps you can still use melinex straps, almost as thin as thread if you like.

Would depend on the shoe but...

But from my experience most shoes have stitching above the sole, somewhere.
I tend to use fishing line and stitch through the already existing holes.

I used to use fishing line alot, until it was pointed out that the life of fishing line is quite short, last few we have used melinex, although still not happy about using the recommended ds tape and gunk to fix it, I am sure when it dries out it will fail.
