Glad to see that you have had such a good response to your ad, Kev.
Regarding ponces, I'd be even more wary of the framing than the art variety.

Re: Staff Vacancy - workshop/retail | Penzance Cornwall
thanks John, we had a surprising response. Ten in the first two days, half of whom seem quite suitable.
one of our lads is moving on to start his own business, and all the applicants so far are already in work, looking to change jobs rather than get the jobcentre off their back, so i guess its all a bit of a sign of an upturn in the economy. lets keep fingers crossed.
framers forum sales and wants comes up with one on google page one for "picture framing jobs" by the way, so I guess that is a good thing for everyone looking to hire or looking for a job.

Could we have definitions of art ponces and framing ponces please, just so we know what to look for when hiring - in the relevant forum or here?
Going by dictionary definitions of 'ponce' I think they could only be male, is there a female art/framing equivalent?

I think he doesn't want anyone who farts about the place looking at all the pretty colours and discussing the subtleties of the delicate shades for an hour and a half with a customer, instead of getting some work done.
There are many people who think this is a 'nice' trade to get In to, with a thoughts of creating a couple of framed pieces per day at a steady pace, while sipping on coffee and maybe nibbles.
We had one who lasted less than 1 hour before quitting as soon as he realised he had to do some actual work.

This forum member claims to ponce on a regular basis, he'd probably be the go-to guy for anyone requiring a definition of the word.

Art Ponce:
exactly what IFGL said
which isn't same thing as somebody with an appreciation or knowledge of art!
