Newbie look for framing advice on large print

I've been given a high quality job, It's to frame a fine art print 1meter square / top moulding / top glass

I made the frame and put the museum glass in, I back boarded the fine art print (error) It bubbles days later.

Lucky for me it was just a print and I did it. (i have a large format printer)

I understand now that fine art paper does not go well onto backing board..

So here I am now, I reprinted the fine art print ready to frame ... Whats the best way to do this?

The client doesn't want the print to be stuck to a board as in future years the frame may change.

Cheers for your time

Hi - Its 310g thick art paper ... Looks like it may need vaccum heat pressed onto back board .. Can't see anything else being good enough...

It's too tough to do much else

What do you think? and thanks for input

I innitally used self adhesive backing board but have found this not to be the best move

Yeah. Sticky board isn't a lot better than spray glue. Particularly on something that size. It relies on pressure to bond and you just can't get enough even pressure over a big surface.

Self adhesive mountboard is fine but you need cold rollers to press it down, though if it was textured paper then a hot press would be better.

the fine art papers that are 100% cotton tend to lay very flat without bonding, they tend to be more expensive than the wood pulp counter parts but much less springy and cheaper in the end with no dry mounting.

We use Permajet museum cotton 310gsm, we buy in bulk and get great prices, happy to share those prices, PM me if you are interested.

Also we have been using platform mounts (as endorsed by Roboframer ) and finding even very large pictures are staying very flat with this method, it doesn't seem to matter how thick the paper is.

A little tip if you do use this method on a large piece, put the fall out back in the mount before putting the picture in the back of the platform mount, it just makes it easier.

hope you get that :)

Thanks for the input and for the record its the perm jet parchment art paper 310

So is the vacuum press a reasonable method on a metre square print?
