I've just replaced the glass cutting wheel on my Excalibur but now I'm seeing a very slight deviation from a straight cut at the start of the cut. It's probably only half a millimetre but I didn't notice this with the old wheel. It is a bit like the hooking you can get cutting a window mount when the mount cutter blade needs changing.
Something to do with the new wheel maybe?

Re: New glass cutting wheel issue
Is there any side to side movement in the block that carries the glass cutting wheel?
Also, have you checked that the flattend ends of the little axle (on which the wheel rotates) are slotted correctly in the U shaped cut-outs in the carrier block?

Is that how it snaps or is that how it scores as well? Score it and slide it to the left and look at the scored line? Is that 'hooked' or is it maybe not even scored at all at the very start, or not as deeply?

Re: New glass cutting wheel issue
I replaced the wheel with a new one and all is okay now.
However the new, working perfectly wheel is in a different coloured carrier, aluminium coloured instead of black, which is making me wonder whether the black wheel is designed for something other than glass?

Looking in the Lion cat, the black wheels are for system 4000 and the others are for system 5000.
