How did those phone numbers work? I remember old dial phones had 3 letters per number - 1 would have ABC, 2 - DEF .... etc, so I'm guessing GER could be 326 but what's with the lower case and why not just put the corresponding numbers in? Anyone old enough? I've not Googled it.

The lower case letters were not dialed. The name was put in so that you knew what the Exchange (area) was.

Thanks!

Here's the front - brought in by John Cooper's son. He just wanted broken glass replaced, which he got, but UV ...... and a new mount, platform mount and backing.

Wow, I'm more impressed that you met John Cooper's son than with the framing label.

John Cooper had a garage here, then his son (my customer) ran it - could even still be going!

Jack Brabham, the driver in the painting, died just last month.

Would you say the picture had faded at all after all this time?
