First attempt at a plate!

Hi all,

A few photos of my first attempt at framing a plate. Please don't judge too much as I had to try and make it as close as I could to the original which used even thinner moulding. I would have used a much deeper one to cover the sides, but my hands were a little tied on this one.
Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, even thought it turned my stomach using no nails to stick the plate in place. Again to match the previous plate mounted by others.

All done on a Morso F, Alpha 1M underpinner, and Keencut artist plus.

By the way the white spots on the first shot are on the camera - not trapped in the frame!

I know I'm probably going to get criticised for this, but the client didn't want anything showing at all, and stated he wanted it glueing to the back board. No nails, basically.
I'm not proud of it and wouldn't usually do it like that, but who am I to argue!

When put in the oven and heated to a little over 100 c certain epoxy resin product will simply wipe off without trace this is fine for most plates, especially is it says oven proof on the back

I have got a plate which is going in a bar, it is probably 'collectible' but since it is going in a bar it will have to be securely placed, so silicon will be my weapon of choice

You see plates in bars hanging on wire plate hangers, would be no different if it was mounted that way in a frame

They dont want any wire hangers and in anycase in needs making in the morning to be delivered back by lunchtime. In my world we don't get lead in times only deadlines.

Plate hangers are a piece of proverbial to mount.

If I had to use glue only I would take the precaution of padding the piece in the gap directly beneath the plate so that it doesn't chip the edge when it drops down.

All done lined with 3500m mount bord which should protect it.
