Ultragloss - Hotpress or Zenith

Post by Richard Photofusion »

We're half way through printing and mounting an exhibition (130 10x6.66" ultra gloss prints on to 2mm aluminium). We have been using Hotpress facemount adhesive and ultra gloss laminates, to remarkable effect. But, we're running low on stock, and considering using the Zenith deep water laminate, and super clear adhesives, as these are available in more sensible sizes.

Does anyone have experience of using both, and if so, how similar are the results?

If you are trying to keep consistency across the whole job to me you should stick with what you started. I have never used the zenith but HP have always been regarded as superior products. Very rarely use anything else though when I have I have reverted back to HP.

Indeed, nothing worse than changing materials half way through a job. Hopefully HP haven't altered their specs...

I was also rather tempted by the idea of the laminate having a protective film which you remove at the last moment. Guess I'll try it once I've run through the next batch...
