Aluminium frame corners opening

Post by Jayvee »

Customer sent me in an image of something I dropped off the other day - he's pleased as punch with it... But from the image he sent me - between me dropping it off and him hanging it...well if you check the top left and bottom right corners you can see they have come apart.

Any ideas on how to rectify this? I'm stumped going out to see him tomorrow to get a better look. Moulding. Is Nielsen 222/004 and has the matching slip 223/004. Going to give them a call tomorrow also - in the meantime...anyone? :)

I don't use aluminium frames, but do you not just tighten the corner pieces?

Have you got the plates in the right way round? The ones without the holes have a bias to tighten the face of the frame.
If they are in the right way a tap with a hammer on the corner of the plate will usually do the trick.

Awesome mount btw.

Yes, that mount looks great!

How's it hanging?

If it's hung by cord/wire, make sure it's not tight and there are two hanging points, as per the diagram posted here many times.

On a decent amount of wire - but spoken to Nielsen and they suggest it needs to be hanging from all four sides in order for this not to happen she to size - they've also suggested to use wire in a cross cross pattern to tighten it all together. I've spotted in lions a product calls titeframe so will have a little look at that also!

Cheers Re: mount - I wanted to so something totally different hence the design - the white layer is also floated on top of the blue... As image!

Also - nice post name Robo!!:)

Really like the mounting and whole look, wish we saw more examples of this on the forum...

Love the mount, how big is that across its length? Assume you cut it on a Gunnar? All one piece mount or did you have to join it in the middle? Nice to see items mounted without a border mount too. Is it 3 layers of mountboard with foamboard behind it to raise the mount and create the shadow?

Yup cut on the Gunnar! Couldn't be without it now!!its a one piece mount the blue is essentially a full sheet I think it's 47" x 31". Or pretty close to anyways! It was the absolute biggest I could go with my size Gunnar - wish I went for the XL now!!:( 3 layers of mount ontop, one underneath as an undermount then foam to create the shadow.

I wanted to do something totally different (saw something done in the US on a much smaller scale), but wasn't sure how the forum would react so wasn't going to post it up - it was only due to the issue that I did!! Here's a proper image here! Glad I've had a bit of positive feedback :)
