Hello,
I have been a member for a few years on here and have been away....and now I am back.

I have built a new Framing Studio in my garden, which is what i wanted to do as I am retired from my real job..

Still keeping busy and hope to get involved in the Forum again...

Thanks, Norrie

Welcome back, Norrie.

Where on earth have you been?

John,
Since I retired we went for a wander in our motorhome for a wee while, then came back and decided that the back of the garage was no place for a Framing Studio, so we built a bespoke one.

The joy of designing such a building is you can make it the size you think you need, its not all plain sailing and you lose a few nights sleep with the internal positioning of such items of machinery, sockets, compressed air, lighting etc; you get the picture.

We are settled in for a few months now and everything is going well, still got itchy feet and always looking at maps and where to next.... :D

Norrie.

Do you have any photos to show off the new building?

Then we can send them to the council in case you didn't get planning permission :giggle:

Welcome back!

Well it's below the square metreage of planning app...don't think I didn't ask...

I will post a few pics soon, you can view externally on Facebook ..Picture This Framers. There are a few wee items, but I would like to show how I encapsulated all the machinery, including a valiani, and a futura and all my needs to make framing easy...

Norrie.

The new studio measures 7M x3M x3M reduced to 2.7M at the sloping pitch.

Inside is insulated with 50mm Kingspan and 25mm marine ply.

Outside is 35mm log lap.

We have 3.5kw solar panels which means I can run two 1kw fan heaters during the winter....which in Scotland means all year....

I think a studio in your garden is the best place to work ever...

Norrie.

Norrie, that's awesome - sounds like you didn't skimp on so much as a nail there.

I bet it wasn't cheap...I've been doing fag packets calcs on a 12 x 9 workshop, and it's about £800, with no insulation or solar panels.

Would you mind if I Pm'd you mate, about any tips you'd have, and the solar panels?

No worries if not.....and superb job again!!
