Can anyone recommend the best product for stoping the bare mettle on my Morso from rusting. And the best product for lubrication, without making it to sticky. Thanks for the help on my previous questions.

Someone that came to visit me recently said to rub it with wire wool and then rub with wax.

Hi Ray

Hope you have the hatches battened down today!

My original Morso used to rust in the shed, scrunched up silver foil did a good job for me. I can not remember which way up it needs to be though. I found the technique through good old google. If it is really stubborn then add Coca Cola I believe!

Pramsay13. Yes ,that sounds like a good idea. I have been looking around for some suitable mettle wax. Has any one ever used One ? Thanks.

Hi Nick, thanks for getting back to me. I was a bit shocked when I when out to my workshop this morning. It seams to have turned rusty over night. I will do a search on the scrunched up silver foil. Yes, we have all the hatches battened down, hell of a storm blowing out their at the moment. I am really enjoying using the gear you sold me, if I hadn't spotted your add, I would still be buying boring ready mades.

Glad it worked out well, hope your still enjoying it in the middle of August! For my sins we have found ourselves opening a small Gallery in Port Isaac later this week so fingers crossed that the sun starts to shine soon!

For surfaces not touching any of the material being cut a coat of paint is best. For pivot points a spray "moly lube" can be used. It dries to a thin dark gray film that will not collect saw dust. Check for this at a machine shop supplier. For the working surface I would use a harder wax than paste wax.... paraffin wax (a candle).

Nick Whitewater Gallery . You are a glutton for punishment. We feel stretched and frazzled by the end of the season, I don't think we could cope with any more pressure.In the peak period we are running around like a pair of headless chickens.
