oak mouldings

Post by Trinity »

Having looked at Arqadia, Wessex and Frinton catalogues the choice for wider profile moulding is a bit sparse, any other sources spring to mind please?

Rose & Hollis do a few about 40/50mm wide. No website though

Can scan the profile pictures in my catalogue with sizes if you want? :D

Simons oak1 is 55mm wide but it's not fun to cut unless you have a chop saw. Nielsen do a real oak veneer the same width, far more expensive but a piece of cake to cut and join

I am stuck in the Gallery so can not get to the catalogue but I think Frintons have something wider than I can see on the Arqadia website and this one from Ashworth and Thompson is over 50mm http://www.ashworthandthompson.co.uk/mo ... 1-oak.html. I am not sure if Simons have anything, will try and grab catalogues later if no one has found anything suitable.

Unless you want a simple flat one you can always stack. In fact it would be easier to make than hacking though a single big bit.

A nice design is the three-step combo. Most oak/ash comes in various sizes of basic square. A wide one in the middle, a narrow one on the inside and a deep middling size around the outside. :D Or variations of the same theme. Flip the middle and you have a 'box' pattern where the inner moulding sits in the inverted rebate of the middle one.

I could go on all day..... :ninja:

Is this recognised by anyone please, it's 60 x 19mm, oak. I'm not sure if it's a solid wood or wrap.
Not unusually, a match is the preferred option.

From the photo it looks to me like a cheepo paper wrap on mdf, it definitely does not look like solid oak
