Does anyone use FOAMEX, not Foamboard?
If so...
- Who do you use as suppliers in the UK? (I've got Robert Horne Group number.)
- Can you cut it using a wallmounted Excalibur?
- If not, any tips on cutting it leaving a neat edge?
- Is it expensive?
- What thicknesses does it come in?
We do a lot of Dry Mounting have have tried various substrates including:
- 2.5mm MDF (best so far but be careful of bumps)
- HOTPRESS Display Board (rubbish!!!)
- 15mm MDF (only for block mounting)
- 5/10mm Foamboard (most rebates will not take this and it bruises too easily)
all the above have varying degrees of success. The 2.5 MDF Hardboard is the thickness we need but the fibres do swell up with heat, showing through the artwork if not careful. We need a thin, easily cut substrate which has the qualities of FOAMEX, any ideas would be great!
