Sending mirrors

Hi there, I have asked about this before and was given info on specialist mirror transport. However I was just wondering if anyone sells high volumes of mirrors and uses a general courier/transport company such as parcel force. I see companies on ebay and amazon who just sell mirrors and use courier services such as parcel force, DHL etc I just wondered if any one of them are considered particularly OK for mirrors! Thanks.

There is a company based in Milton Keynes area called Fragilistics.... they have vans doing the length and breadth of the country... even up here in sunny Scotland... I use them quite regularly and they are reasonably priced. Don't have the number here at home but can pass it onto you tomorrow

I have sent mirrors by normal courier but i have made a wooden crate to carry them. with the cost of the crate and extra carraige because of weight it was expensive in actual fact the second time I did it it was cheaper to get fragilistics to take them as they didn't need anything more than bubble wrap to protect them. I know that some of the larger mirror comapnies use them and I think arqadia use them for specialist glass.

If there is no margin to send by specialist courier then all I can suggest is wrap them up well, expect damages and prey to which ever deity takes your fancy, because using a national courier you will need a wing and a prayer in my experience.

I have also used apc in the past to transport mirrors. They are very reasonable, (about £10 plus vat for an overmantle.) They do next day delivery as standard but glass is uninsurable. I used to send out up to 5 mirrors a week for several years and only had about 3 with damage. I just stood the loss.
