Fave Film Clips

Post by Roboframer »

If you have a favourite part of a favourite film - good chance you'll find it on Youtube.

1985 - stationed on the island of South Georgia - we were supposed to receive 15 videos per month - by air drop or ship. (Other stuff would come with them  )

We never got our first 15 replaced!!

I know the script to 'Caddyshack' and 'The Sure Thing' and on ski patrols -and other times, we would act out scenes from both - but this was always the part I liked getting ......

They haven't got my fave snippet from The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert... Priscilla has to be my all time fave movie.

No surprises for this clip being one of my "best movie moments"...

That one is up there for me too Áine (maybe I should rephrase that!)

You'll find plenty of quotes though - one of my favourites (from memory) is ...

There's two things I hate about you ..... your face!

The scene that I was searching for was where Felicia was explaining 'her' ambition to climb King's Rock dressed as a queen, to which Bernie replies,

"That's just what this country needs... (etc. etc.)"

Superb film, and one of the sharpest comedy scripts I've ever come across. Like Fools & Horses, it has a perfect blend of hilarity and poignancy. Strongly recommend it to anyone who has not seen it yet! :D

This one had me in tears

PS: Does Ormond like Abba?

"Neighbours" actor was Guy Pearce. Some people still don't believe he's straight!

Spit's clip reminded me of this. Which then reminded me of this and this. I could keep going...

To frell with it, watch the movie again! Gondolas, gondolas, gondolas!!!

Porky's was definitely a film of its time, most young 'uns today would wonder what the fuss was about. Like Punk, you really had to be there at the time. So many comedy moments from that film have passed into folklore, e.g. Mike Hunt, Lassie.....

When I worked at Wang Labs in Limerick, you could contact the receptionists to page people on the plant's PA system for you, e.g:

"Would Joe Bloggs please contact reception!"

Mike Hunt and Moira Manes were popular choices with the plant japesters! (Moira is pronounced "Myra" btw).

I actually know someone called Mike Hunt: he's a part-time member of the local fire service!

Going slightly off-topic, I heard a quite amusing line on the Simpsons yesterday.....

Child pychologist perscribes Bart a drum kit as therapy. Turns out hes a natural and is on the verge of getting a contract with a jazz label when he hurts his arm. Can't play any more.
He is sitting up in the hospital bed feeling sorry for himself.... "I used to be a great drummer", says he. "Now I am nothing (sob)".
"Just like Phil Collins".

Well I though it was funny.

All together now....

I'm a picture framer, I'm ok!
I chop all night and I mount all day!

I cut my thumbs, I wear flat shoes, an apron and a bra!
I wish I was a landlord, just like my dear Papa!!!
